Facebook’s Mum Challenge

Day 1

Nominated by myself

10 days of the “NOT being a Mum” challenge: every day I will select a picture from a day in the life of NOT being a “Mum”, (preferably one makes me feel proud crap about this) and post it without a single explanation and nominate somebody to take the challenge.

10 long days, 10 incessant photos, 10 smug nominations, 0 explanations.

Today I nominate NOBODY. Nobody should ever feel this.

The real Facebook challenge

Been nominated twice for this and still haven’t done it. I just don’t think people fathom that not everyone is as overjoyed as they are about their kids. I appreciate that I’m lucky to have the two babies with me that I do, but I’m glad I remember that there are people in my friend list that either don’t have kids, can’t have kids, haven’t had them yet or have had losses, and that things like this can really hurt people..

Ooooh I’m going to have to censor myself here because I have a lot to say about this stupid Facebook challenge. I know that for you right now, it would be like rubbing salt in the wound, and just incredibly insensitive. For me – single, at an age where it’s definitely not cool to be, and forever childless – it’s the sort of thing that makes me want to quit Facebook. Like… really? I’m scrolling through a million random pictures of other peoples kids for daaaays on end? What’s the point. Parallel universe… can I get off at the next stop please.

I absolutely hate this. Even as someone who hasn’t had children, and hasn’t been as unfortunate to go through what many baby loss mum’s have; i find it hugely infuriating. It’s insensitive. People should be proud of being a mum, of course, but they need to consider others. To consider what it’s like to not be part of that “ club” and how it might make people feel. Here here anjulie! You’re spot on!
